How goes it people? Haven't touched the harp or clarinet in days. I have been working on rhythm though and playing a tricky bit of Mozart pere on the treble (well tricky for the treble). I'm a bit distracted by the garden at present as we have a new vegetable garden coming on line this year and it is being a bit demanding... I need to organise my time better!

In the meantime I've got the closest thing to an appropriate smiley... edit - and you can have any colour you like! But I thought green would be appropriate.

I've also missed a couple of days last week but made up for one of the losses with a double session the following day and I have had a good twenty minutes this morning. Tuesday next will be the end of the month and I will have to consider making a progress recording.

keff - You are so organised! It's a tad chaotic here at present. I've probably mentioned that the house was a wreck when we bought it - bits were falling off or had already done so and the garden ditto. We moved in on the morning of lockdown so it hasn't been a fast process to sort it for all kinds of reasons. Anyway, we started on the garden last year and this year we do actually have a garden of sorts but it's taking up so much time at the moment. The battle of the cow parsley is about to take off as well... There was some work done on plants responding to outside stimulus - I just wonder if playing the clarinet to them would finish them off! Job done!

We have been in our house for thirty five years and in that time there has been a great deal of work done on it. Some of the decoration now needs revisiting. Our garden can also take a fair time to keep tidy. Trying to get better at piano does seem to absorb my mental energies the house and garden suffer. Still the weather is picking up and encourages the jobs outside.

We need rain and sun in an appropriate mix so that practice can take place and some gardening get done without the weeds being given too much of an encouragement!

Managed about 15 minutes on the clarinet today. I also spent another 10 minutes trying to record something - just a few bars really. I'm still not very far along. On Tune A Day - I'm still on lesson 1!

My lyre has arrived!! Looks nice and has a handy case. I doesn't have the names of the strings printed along the top as many instruments I looked at did - I think I will have to pencil them in. It came with all the strings installed too, which was unexpected as most that I looked at didn't. That obviously saved me some time; nevertheless, I have spent far more than my 10 minutes for the day tuning it. I'm playing it safe and tuning a whole semitone less than intended - I'm regarding it as a baroque pitch lyre. I have played the first phrase of Twinkle Twinkle. Well, had to start somewhere!

Great! That's brilliant news! Congrats! Do we get a picture? I'm seriously impressed that you can play Twinkle Twinkle etc etc. I can't manage that on the clarinet!

I haven't touched the clarinet for several days and the harp for even longer. I've been concentrating on rhythm and doing music rhythm dictation which has got to the point where it's more difficult. However, I'm pleased that there's a point which isn't difficult. That's definite progress. But it means not much else has happened - we've been planting a lot of (mostly fruit) trees and we're now on to shrubs and what would be called ornamental trees except they aren't - they're native trees. But it means after digging holes and struggling with the 'field' I'm a bit worn out at the edges! Today is extremely windy 🌪️ though so we're unlikely to brave the outside. Instead, I worry that the greenhouse will blow away... Enough of 'nothing achieved so far' - how are the rest of you doing?!

Much the same here: I started Twinkle Twinkle on the lyre, then we were away for a couple of days, then back for a couple but then away again. At home yesterday and today, then away again for 3 days, so no opportunity to work on it consistently. Everything settles down at the end of this week so I should be able to get back to twinkling.

Now the piano group is over for another six weeks I can, perhaps, get back into routine practice both at the piano and with the violin. I certainly felt some enthusiasm for music this morning.

pavane - I wish I could twinkle... keff - I can imagine that the meeting has renewed enthusiasm. I thought today would be quiet, and I'd start the new rhythm book. However, we've been out to the greenhouse three times to replace a panel. The third time we taped it down inside as well. It was a bit scary inside the greenhouse as the wind is horrendous and I thought the greenhouse might come down on my head and squash my plants! Mr Z was outside trying to hold it in place while I taped. Mr Z who is obsessed with weather says there 30 mins to go... if I was singing a song it would be 'Blow the wind southerly!' or any direction which isn't this one!
