Does anyone else have an interest in Celtic folk and if so do you have any favourite pieces or performers? What kinds of things do you play and/or sing?

To move our discussion here from another thread since it had taken a Celtic turn, I'm a great fan of Karen Matheson and Capercaillie. I also liked the band Ceolbeg which lasted about 25 years I think. Other recommendations welcome! Being Scottish (but having lived in England all of my life except during the pandemic when I was in Scotland), I love Scottish folk music, but am very ignorant about it.

I'm actually not a great fan of Celtic folk but I get to hear it regularly enough. I take it ceol is music in Scots gaelic as in Irish? Do you also have the expression "caught between a jig and a reel"? Doesn't work for me because I can never tell where one ends and the other begins! Actually I did go to a concert a while ago of an accordian player from Donegal and he was fantastic and we all enjoyed the evening. Maybe a lot of what I get to hear isn't particularly good as it's just put on for the tourists.

Decamping to here - excellent idea!
I appear not to have a lot of particularly Scottish music but I have a couple of tracks of Ceolbeg songs - Sleeping Tune and Zito The Bubbleman. I do have a fair amount of Clannad. Looks like I must have been quite a fan of them and Irish Celtic at some stage! I have a lot of Robert Burns songs - several CDs. They were done by Linn Records - if you know them. But none of the singers are particularly known to me. I think I was interested in Burns' poetry at some stage.
edit to say: Whoops sorry Pavane... I didn't realise you were here! I must have been typing slowly!
