which is music composed to help calm dogs. The Collie is scared of thunder storms and fireworks. We're not sure if it's the light or the sound or the mixture of both as she doesn't respond to recordings of fireworks or thunder - she's used to the latter in Skyrim. I found the music strangely not comforting - maybe too repetitive and I didn't like the staccato bits... But as The Collie was asleep anyway, it's difficult to say if she liked it or not. We do play her recorder music when she's scared and she seems to like that. She seems to like Bach
(no pun intended) and she is calmed by the sound track from Skyrim probably because it's so familiar.
With Nov 5th coming up I guess I'm being bombarded with advice from the dog food/toy firms we buy from and I've wondered about putting a CD together for her. This led me to think of examples where animals have really seemed to respond to music (and it's been tested). Snowball the parakeet who loved Backstreet Boys sprang to mind... and I wondered what I reached for if I feel troubled. But actually I'm more likely to reach for a book...

Since I was a kid. The Collie isn't much of a chewer either which is a shame as dogs find chewing therapeutic. A dog that is chewing destructively (and isn't teething) is likely stressed. The Collie has never used chewing for stress management though clearly when she arrived she was extremely stressed. She uses transference. I use Skyrim. Mr Z doesn't do stress.
