Mentioning Kylie in another thread caused me to have that conversation with my husband who said that one of the tunes that plagued him for years was Band of Gold... he couldn't get it out of his head. Go on... share them... those ones that stay there for weeks and won't leave you alone...

I used to love Band of Gold! I've just had to look up who sang it - Freda Payne for anyone else who can't remember.
I'm in that happy moment when I haven't got anything going round in my head, so I don't want to risk thinking of one!

I don't know if Mr Z likes Band of Gold or not! I'll have to ask. It always struck me as quite stirring. I love that Kylie tune but it is extremely persistent! Actually, Kylie has said she found it persistent too!

I prefer the Kylie version, despite its irritating persistence, to what I suppose is the original - in case you haven't heard it...
(I should add, I do like EP and I think she's got a great voice)

Goodness, that's all modern and up to date Kylie-wise. I meant Can't Get You Out of My Head with extreme apologies to all those who now can't get that out of their heads!
Agree about it though - it's definitely one of those songs that stick relentlessly!

The piece that has probably stuck in my head more than any other over the years is Ronald Binge's Elizabethan Serenade. I don't know what it is about it, it has popped up at all sorts of times over the years and I go around humming it endlessly for a few days or so, then it fades... and then it returns. I might go a few years between bouts sometimes, but it always comes back in the end.

Mr Z loves the Elizabethan Serenade and once said he wanted it at his funeral. It's nice but way too gentle for my funeral. I couldn't go so quietly into that goodnight. Mine will be the music from Skyrim when the Dragonborn is slaying the dragon! Followed by Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on the recorder... That'll fix them.

I have been trying to think of tunes that have implanted themselves but it must be so long ago I can't remember. I do hear tunes occasionally and feel the need to find the melody on piano but once this is done it is quickly forgotten. Not saying anything about funerals.

I started one yesterday. Funiculi Funicula. At least it's a happy bouncy tune so I can live with it for the time being. I'm not normally a fan of Andre Rieu but on this occasion, his rendition suits the joyfulness of the music. At the risk of passing the earworm virus on to somebody else, here is Andre Rieu's version (although they haven't sung all the verses so it's a bit shorter than I usually hear it)

Re Rieu - I can excuse him a lot because of a version of O Fortuna which got me through a bit of chemo. I do wish though people wouldn't just take O Fortuna out of context... drives me spare.
Agreed, though - that is definitely one of those tunes... and did you see the women's costumes? Absolutely beautiful! A real spectacle that. I loved it!
Here's the CB. Complete with fireworks and things... I do love Rieu's sense of the over-the-top theatrical...

Agree about the black sparkly dresses! I think the male singers are very good, in both clips. I love Carmina Burana, I've seen it performed a couple of times but not years. I'd love to see it again.

Absolutely - and some of the pastel ones are all Cinderella. It's definitely up there with Jean-Michel Jarre. I've never seen CB performed and I'd have loved to. It's one of those bright light pieces for me if I think I need a torch.
I've got the theme to The Prisoner in my head now but I don't mind too much. It's a kind of places to go, get things done piece of music.
