I have a lot of recorder repertoire in the form of collections but at the moment my favourite for the treble is Solo Book for Treble Recorder by J. Runge Vol 2. It's a Schott collection and it's tiny - just A5 and only 19 pages but it's a really pretty collection of music from the 16C to 18C and I'm very much enjoying it. I haven't been playing treble for long.
So, what are your favourites at the moment or do you have a favourite that has occupied that place for a very long time?

I've just received The treble selection of Van Eyck edited by Thiermo Wind. Shortened a couple of the titles. I have the complete collection but I'm pleased to have this as turning pages isn't my favourite past-time.
1. Preludium of Voorspel 2. Pavaen Lachrymae 3. Sarabande 4. Lossy 5. Een Schots Lietjen 6. Daphne 7. Courant 8. Philis quam Philander tegen 9. Wat zalmen 10. Engels Nachtegaeltje 11. Blydschap van myn vliedt 12. d'Lof zangh Marie 13. Lanterlu 14. L'Amie Cillae 15. Bocxvoetje 16. Comagain 17. Fantasia & Echo 18. Rosemont 19. Questa dolce sirena 20. De France 21. Looks like a good selection. I know what you mean about the page turning, some of the pieces in the triple set of books of complete van Eyck have about the first 8 bars on one page and then you have to turn.
I need to look through my recorder repertoire and start something new. I've got plenty of material, but I need to work through the stack and try something different. I was doing some Handel ages ago, I will start with that I think. There are a lot of arpeggios in Handel so it's probably good for general improvement.

Yes, it's nice. Probably silly to buy as I have the collection but as I say, it's done the choosing for me. Some is a bit tricky for me on the treble because I don't know the notes but I managed Daphne OK. Just the first bit. The Collie sang from note 1. There must be something about the treble and that piece that strikes a chord with her (excuse the pun).
Shall I start a What Are You Playing thread? I really would like to try pieces other people are playing so at least I could see if what I find hard they find hard too! The Bach Dances for the descant that I'm still playing are lovely, BTW - you could play those on tenor!
edited - I'm obsessed with Susato on the treble!

Bach dances sound good - love Bach. Which book are they in?
A What Are You Playing? thread would be good - always interesting and sometimes good ideas one hasn't thought of.

I bought it separately. But honestly it's worth having. Suite No 2 The seven dances of BMV 1067. But it includes Air (BMV 1068... on G string...). I'm playing Rondeau, Sarabande, and Bourees 1 and 2. They are beautiful.

Hi Zi,
Thanks for this. I was going to mark them all up in my collection, but looking at No 1, it seems it must have been transposed for the alto collection as there are low Cs and Ds in it. Would you mind confirming whether this is the case? Happy to buy the treble collection if they have been transposed. In the meantime, I will play them on my tenor.

Misty - yes - this collection is transposed for the F instrument so you will already have these for the descant. You could just transpose them yourself - Pavane (OaG) does that using LilyPond. He'll confirm. I'd assumed that Van Eyck had written stuff for the F instrument but Thiemo Wind seems to be implying that wasn't the case... It might be me not reading properly though! I think Just Flutes was where I got this and they were a bit cheaper. But it's still a ridiculous price really to duplicate what you have. I was just impatient! if you decide to buy, let me at least check where I got mine and tell you the price because some places are even more ridiculously expensive. It's really nice to see you!

I love Van Eyck and I really struggle to choose faves. I haven't played much from the treble book yet though. I have one on the list to start this week - Tweede Rosemond on the descant. And I noticed that on the treble there's Prins Robberts Masco - all three parts which look doable - modo 3 will be a challenge though! I'm working from Trinity's syllabus for a few weeks - it's really just to save wondering what to play next! You are lucky having a teacher to choose for you! I do sometimes like handing over responsibility for me to someone else! How about you? is it too soon for faves? BTW I have a new book coming. It's one anacrusis mentioned in the past and I'll do a list if it sounds interesting to you. It's called The Baroque Solo Book ... I'm not sure how much overlap there's going to be with a couple of others I have. But it's wire bound which is always a step forward I think.

OK ran through the Prins Robberts Masco very quickly. The theme is fine. Modo 2 is tricky and Modo 3 is horrific! Listened to Dan Laurin play it on the descant (just theme, m1 and m2) and it's beautiful... and fast! That'll keep me out of mischief for a bit... some tricky rhythms too... Just what I need...
Let me know how you get on Misty!

The Baroque Solo Book edited by Bernard Thomas for alto/treble recorder - arghhhh!! It's something I hope I grow into...
For some reason the contents are at the back. Fear music books when the contents are at the back.
