Just checked the site again - no sign of it... It's presumably the equivalent to checking the letter box...

The shaft lock thing is now out of stock (again) and a rather cryptic mail from Thomann says that the next stock will be 26/10/23... My new puter is currently on the build list and is scheduled for dispatch in early November. Mr Z has said if the recorder arrives at the same time as the new computer then it doesn't stand a chance... and he's right. It is coming with Ubuntu installed but even so setting up Steam and the zillions of mods to the games I play will keep me quiet for a few days...
November... where has the year gone?

Update - Thomann have ordered to split the order at no additional cost - which is extremely kind. However, I said I'd wait - it's only a few days. I always think these tests to my patience must be good for me...

You seem to be dealing with the delay with more stoicism than I think I would be displaying. I think you should ask them to send the order in separate parts for no extra postage charge given that the delay is substantial and not your fault.
Which idiot was it who said that computers would relieve humans of much work??? Talk about creating problems... Mrs P and I are going on a fairly long flight next month and decided that we'd treat ourselves to new noise-cancelling headphones as the ones we have are ancient and not very good (if they even still work). They arrived yesterday and the first thing you need to do is install an app an your phone to set them up. Yikes - there was a time when you set headphones up by plugging them in, job done. To be fair, they work brilliantly, the silence is almost uncanny, and the ability to control the level of noise cancellation will be useful because Mrs P didn't like the total exclusion of the outside world (I did!).
Should I mention that it could be time to start work on the Christmas music? Maybe not. Presumably the clocks go back soon, so lots of long dark evenings for learning carols on bass recorder...

The idiot was presumably related to the one who said there would be a paperless office... It's interesting about the headphones as I've found mice that operate like that - ie have software attached to them. I'm not sure how Ubuntu would react to that. Because Wine is so amazing these days it might just work but who knows. It'd be an extra layer of complexity... perhaps... re noise cancellation - I think I'm with Mrs P... it would depend I think as I have tinnitus so I don't enjoy silence because I never get it. I once removed a silent graphics card and replaced it with a noisy one for just that reason. I also have sound sensitivity though which makes being with people very difficult sometimes... They do stuff that's irritating... like play with pens, have their 'music' too loud, crackle crisp packets etc etc... and in a plane I wouldn't be able to escape them without a parachute. I hope the long flight is painless for you though! As we're rambling a bit here - and I don't care that we are - I hope everyone is OK and the current storm is leaving you unscathed. Storm Babet sounds like it ought to be cute but it certainly isn't! The meadow next to us is now a rather nice lake...

'Tis said, and I don't know how true it is, that the constant low pitched din on a plane adds to the tiring-ness of the flight. Yesterday we had no power all day (not because of the storm, it was a scheduled outage for network upgrades) and we had the generator running from time to time and it makes an appalling racket. With the new headphones on, not only could I not hear it in the house, but I went outside and stood next to it and even then it was almost silent. I was - as you can probably tell - incredibly impressed, I've never experienced anything like it, so I look forward to blocking out the sound of both the flight and, hopefully, my fellow passengers, as much as I possibly can. However, it's possible to have any point you want between max noise cancelling and note at all, so should work for Mrs P too.
As far as the storm goes, we've been fine thanks - no wind issues at all, but a lot of rain, which seems pretty much like normal this year!

It's good when technology does what you hope and you're not left underwhelmed!
It's been very wet here but today the 'lake' has subsided a good deal. We'd had the tree surgeons here on Monday and Tuesday, removing anything that was worrying us so there wasn't anything to come down just now... But it sounds as if it has been horrendous elsewhere. I hope Misty is OK!
Realistically, I think the bass recorder will be here in November. I'm getting things ready for the new puter which is scheduled for them too... so hopefully the time it takes will dictated by download speed only which here is measured in weeks...
Re generator - there used to be one here aeons ago but actually power cuts here haven't been that bad until yesterday when the power kept going on and off - sometimes every few minutes. The overall outage during the day was less than an hour (more during the night) but TBH I'd rather they'd switched it off for a couple of hours rather than going off every few minutes for a couple of seconds... sigh...

Since it was the original item of interest, and also the cause of the delay to your order, I hope the locknut thingy for the music stand works too. At least it shouldn't take as long to master as the bass recorder

rofl - I'm not that technically challenged... Though sometimes though things can be extremely argumentative.
I am wondering if the bass recorder is going to be a monster and I won't be able to hold it properly. I've kind of forgotten why I bought it... it's been so long.

For those of you who are too shy to ask and/or haven't signed up to this forum, the bass recorder is now in the UK - somewhere and is due to be delivered on Monday - exactly one month and one day after I purchased it. To be absolutely clear - Thomann did offer to ship the bits separately but I chose to wait because I hate things flying round the world half a dozen times in any case. I'm a smidgen excited... though to be fair - my new PC is due next week and so everything else is probably eclipsed by that!

Thank you! Next week is going to be fun, I think.
To return to the sheep... Are you taking some kind of musical instrument on your travels with you?
