Finally I seem to be emerging from stuff and things are a bit more settled here though the garden has snaffled quite a bit of the time released from the junk we've been dealing with. I'm not practising every day and I'm taking each day as it comes. At the moment I'm using John Pitts beginner's book for the treble along with the Hellbach book. I simply play what I feel like playing. I like these two books because they can support my sudden realisations that I'm not sure of the fingering and usually the note I'm struggling with is the one just introduced. Oh, there are some gorgeous pieces in both books and it's such a jumble of different music that there's always something to delight.
I some some 'time' today as we were awoken at 5am by a loud crash. Mr Z (the morning is not his best time...) asked if I'd heard it - I thought he thought that my deafness had really become much worse but no, he wondered if he was dreaming. So, at 5am we're scouring the house to find what the noise was. Mr Z is (I think) more melodramatic over such things than I am and was convinced it was roof related. I thought it was inside and muffled... eventually we tracked it down to a soap dispenser in the en-suite. It had decided enough was enough and departed from its fixture. Mr Z returned to bed but I was awake and bouncing about so a lot was accomplished even earlier than usual. Normally we walk very early but The Collie has a sore 'footy' and rough surfaces exacerbate it - she's fine elsewhere so we decided to keep her off rough surfaces today... Notice, I didn't say that we'd decided to stop her running about which is impossible! So, it's not yet 9am and I have a lot of time to spare so I've been playing - ish... I've just come across a really delightful Handel minuet which has helped reinforce some of the notes I think I've forgotten.
I hope everyone else has a joyful musical day!
